Attention RDEK Electoral Area residents!
Only 1 month left to book your subsidized home energy assessment! The RDEK is subsidizing the East Kootenay Energy Diet, giving residents of the RDEK electoral areas the opportunity to get a home energy assessment for only $40. After December 31st, the cost of an assessment will be $300. Check out www.eked.ca to learn more.
With the winter months just around the corner, it’s a great opportunity to learn about how energy is used in your home, and what you can do to save some money on your bills. A Certified Home Energy Advisor will visit your home and perform a ‘blower door test’ as well as a walk through to assess your insulation, heating system, windows and much more. You’ll receive a detailed report with a wide range of recommendations.
For homeowners that heat with electric or natural gas and are looking to make some energy improvements, once you receive an assessment, you become eligible to access $3500 of insulation and draft sealing incentives (see here for more information), PLUS a new East Kootenay-specific $1500 Bonus Incentive if you perform one insulation plus 2 additional qualifying measures (see here for details).
The East Kootenay Energy Diet is a pilot project in the East Kootenay aimed at making the process of accessing a home energy assessment easy for homeowners. Registrations are being accepted until December 9th, so book soon! To register, just visit www.eked.ca and click the ‘Sign Up Now!’ button, or call Megan at 250-531-0690.
